Be merciful to every living being.
“Even as a mother protects with her life Her child, her only child, So with a boundless heart Should one cherish all living beings;”
Buddhism · Ancient (before 200 BCE)
Translation: Amaravati Sangha (free distribution)
Mercy is kindness offered where it was not earned. Traditions across the world ask us to widen our care, from family to stranger to every creature that breathes, and find that a softer heart is also a freer one.
